Fidens Brewing Company has been on my radar since I tried one of their IPAs at the Civil Society anniversary block party a few years ago. I am stoked that I have finally tried enough of their beers to write a proper review of them and I promise you that all of the hype you’ve heard is well-justified.
Much like other reviews that I will be writing here, I will update this review once I go and visit the actual brewery to give my ratings for atmosphere and service. For now, since I have had over 30 of delicious Fidens Brewing Company brew, let’s take a look at everything we’ve got our hands on.
Fidens Brewing Company Beer
I’m lucky enough to have had the opportunity to try a lot of beer from Fidens and I will say they are the most consistent brewery I’ve come across. Their IPAs, Double IPAs, and Triple IPAs are all so smooth and delicious – in fact I think their triples are some of the best in the industry because they taste way too damn good for being 10%+.
Below you will find the beers I’ve tried from Fidens and I will continuously update this post as I try new ones:
Accessory Pigment
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.7%
Cold Front Coming
- Type: Double IPA (Collaboration with Civil Society Brewing)
- ABV: 8.4%
My #1 brewery in Jupiter, FL, Civil Society, teamed up with the hazy heavy hitters of Fidens to brew up a delicious double IPA.
DDH Eugene’s Axe
- Type: DDH Double IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
Double Fidens
- Type: DDH Double IPA (Collaboration with Green Cheek Beer Co.)
- ABV: 8.5%
Our second favorite of the Fidens x Green Cheek collab and this just ended up behind the triple but it was equally as delicious.
Eugene’s Axe
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
One of the regular releases from Fidens that I’ve had a few times and it is consistently delicious.
Eugene’s Axe with Pineapple
- Type: Double IPA with Pineapple
- ABV: 8.5%
Out of the other Eugene’s Axe variations I’ve had I think this is by far my favorite – the pineapple just adds a nice touch of sweetness that makes an already great beer even better.
Fairy Ring
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
For Those Who Favor Fire
- Type: DDH Double IPA (Collaboration with North Park Beer Co., Widowmaker Brewing & Vitamin Sea Brewing)
- ABV: 8.4%
This is the Widowmaker Brewing variation of this insane collab and boy was it tasty – glad I was able to get a can of this to have during our ugly sweater party!
Fresh Cut
- Type: Pale Ale
- ABV: 5.8%
A crushable hazy pale ale? I mean sign me up, this was a nice departure from the double and triple IPAs Fidens pumps out and I’d gladly drink these at the pool all summer long.
Grade 10
- Type: Pale Ale
- ABV: 5.3%
I liked Fresh Cut a little more but this is another solid pale ale from the haze masters up at Fidens in New York.
Jasper
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8%
This is one of their regular release beers and a good introduction to Fidens for those that have never had it. I prefer the Triple Jasper variation but this is a solid choice if you are craving a smooth hazy.
Lily
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.1%
Mags
- Type: Pale Ale
- ABV: 5.2%
Marvel of Nature
- Type: West Coast Double IPA
- ABV: 8.4%
This was my first West Coast IPA from Fidens and a departure from their incredible haze but I love when this style of beer is done well and this was great.
Mt. Jasper
- Type: TDH Double IPA (Collaboration with North Park Beer Co. & Cellarmaker Brewing Company)
- ABV: 8.4%
I’ve been loving North Park more and more lately and this collab was a must-try when I saw it was going to be released. It definitely did not disappoint and I’m glad I got a 4-pack of this bad boy.
NANSTOP
- Type: TDH West Coast IPA (Collaboration with Green Cheek Beer Co., Troon Brewing, North Park Beer Co. & Brujos Brewing)
- ABV: 6.5%
I had the North Park version and then this version by Fidens and it was quite possibly the best West Coast IPA I’ve ever had. As for the difference between this and the North Park release, I’d say this one had more bubbles but the taste was the same, if that makes any sense at all.
Necessary Means for a Necessary Means
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.4%
Orchid
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8%
One of my most recent Fidens and it tastes so dang good and I mean just look at it, it looks so creamy and juicy!
Painting Dreams (Simcoe)
- Type: Single Hop West Coast IPA
- ABV: 7%
Fidens is known for their incredible hazies but this is a solid west coaster!
Palm
- Type: IPA
- ABV: 7.2%
Placing Flowers
- Type: Triple IPA
- ABV: 10%
I saw this beer get released and people were giving it 5s on Untappd which is crazy so I had to give it a try. I will say that this is a damn good beer and close to perfect but I’d hold off on saying any beer is perfect because there is always room for something to be better.
Raoul
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
I got this one in my latest Fidens haul and while it had a little more bite than I am used to with Fidens it was still another solid showing.
Single Fidens
- Type: IPA (Collaboration with Green Cheek Beer Co.)
- ABV: 6.8%
Ranked 3/3 out of the three beers released in this series but this is a perfect day-drinker and I’d gladly have a cooler full of these any time of the year.
The Butcher
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
The Heart of Chaos
- Type: Triple IPA
- ABV: 10%
The Sound of Rain
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
Had this out by the pool at a BBQ and it was super tasty and dangerously smooth for a double IPA – I truly don’t know how Fidens makes their doubles and triples so damn tasty.
The Vegan
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
Such a simple can for an incredible beer. One of my top 5 from Fidens for sure.
Three Times Three (Volume 2)
- Type: Triple IPA (Collaboration with Omnipollo, WeldWerks Brewing Co., Root + Branch Brewing, Equilibrium Brewery, Green Cheek Beer Company & Vitamin Sea Brewing)
- ABV: 10.1%
I have visited Omnipollo in Sweden and I will say that they are definitely my favorite non-U.S. brewery. That being said, this collab was actually incredible and did justice to all of the heavy-hitters that worked on it.
Triple Fidens
- Type: TDH Triple IPA (Collaboration with Green Cheek Beer Co.)
- ABV: 10.2%
Surprisingly our favorite out of the three collabs with Green Cheek and somehow the smoothest even though it was over 10%. I’m looking forward to more Green Cheek x Fidens collabs in the future.
Triple Jasper
- Type: Triple IPA
- ABV: 10%
I brought this to our monthly beer share to introduce Fidens to the group and this beer was absolutely too smooth for a 10% triple – I definitely have to get my hands on this again to enjoy a full can of it.
What is that saying, The Juice is Worth the Squeeze? In the case of Fidens Brewing Company it is definitely worth it and worthy of every single ounce of hype they’ve received. I can honestly say that they are my second favorite [Civil Society Brewing will always be my #1]) brewery of all time just based on the consistency of their beers – they’ve quite literally mastered the hazy IPA style and should be looked at as the best of the best.
I cannot wait until I get to visit the actual brewery in Albany, New York to have this incredible juice on tap – until then I will continue to try out their to-go offerings.
About Fidens Brewing Company
“The idea was simple from the start. Let’s open a small brewery and try to do it ourselves in Albany, NY. We kicked around ideas of what we would need to do while on road trips to our favorite breweries near and far. The truth is, we didn’t have any experience outside of one of us cleaning kegs and packaging beer in college. It was just a dream to be able to call it our jobs and to make it on our own.”
