Hornski’s Brewing Co. just opened up on Anastasia Island in St. Augustine, Florida and I could not wait to swing by there to do a proper review.
I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz on social media about the cool vibes and good beer so I had to go check it out myself. I learned that Hornski’s used to be a vinyl lounge that closed in 2019. The whole vinyl lounge vibes still exist at the brewery as they have a great selection of vinyl records to purchase and have a record player going at all times in the tap room.
In addition to the cool vinyl lounge vibe, Hornski’s also has a ton of free-to-play arcade games as well as a pool table.
If you’d like to enjoy the Florida weather then you also have the option to sit in their makeshift beer garden which is out in front of the brewery. I must admit they did a good job enclosing the beer garden – you can’t really tell you are sitting right next to the main road going through Anastasia Island.
Now that we’ve gone over the overall aesthetic and vibes of Hornski’s, let’s dive into their beer.
Hornski’s Brewing Co. Beer
Hornski’s just opened up and during their grand opening they had 19 of their own beers on tap but have since run low and have 3 of their own with a bunch of different guest taps. This is a great problem to have and means that everyone is enjoying their beer. (I was told that new beer should be ready to go in a week.)
They offer three different sizes of pours for their draft beers, 20oz, 16oz and 8oz – I opted to try all three of their own beers so I went with the 8oz pour option.
Let’s take a look at the beer we had while visiting Hornski’s Brewing Co. in St. Augustine, Florida:
Kilgore Stout
- Type: Stout
- ABV: 7%
I am not really a stout person and I just had this to try all of their beer that they had available.
Tim
Nelson Schmelson
- Type: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 7.1%
Hazies are my wheelhouse so I was super happy that they had two available on draft. I definitely prefer this one over the other but both are super solid.
Tim
Dr. Hazynstein
- Type: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 7.8%
As I mentioned above, I preferred Nelson Schmelson over this but I would definitely get this one again as well – I am glad we have some more options for good hazies locally.
Tim
Not Into Yoga
- Type: Sour Ale with Pineapple & Coconut
- ABV: 5%
This was gone from the tap list but I was able to grab the last crowler from their to-go fridge and this was pretty subtle as far as sour goes – I didn’t get much of the pineapple or coconut and it kind of just tasted like a traditional sour base.
Tim
In addition to a great selection of beer on tap, both in-house and guest, Hornski’s also offers crowler fills. They also have a cooler of pre-made crowlers that you can grab if you are in a hurry.
Food wasn’t an option at Hornski’s but that is fine, you have several places that are within walking distance, including Odd Birds, to grab some grub after you enjoy a beer or two at the brewery.
I’m super stoked that we have a new local brewery to switch up from our regulars – I will definitely be heading back once they produce more of their own beer. The overall vibes are really cool and there are plenty of arcade games to keep the kiddos busy if you want to go in with your family.
