My trip to Green Room Brewing was one of many stops during our first outing in Jacksonville. We decided to hit every brewery on the Jax Ale Trail and this was stop number three or four of the day but don’t let that take away from an honest review of a good brewery right near the beach.
First impression of Green Room Brewing is that it is literally at the beach – go across the street and walk a few blocks east and boom, ocean! While it may look small from the outside it is quite spacious inside the brewery. The taproom has a bar section and then several tables throughout with enough space between to not feel claustrophobic.
In the back there is another seating area with a ping pong table and projection screen. Let’s not fail to mention that in front of the brewery is a makeshift beer garden with even more seating available.
Green Room Brewing Beer
One thing is for certain, Green Room has quite the selection of beer on tap so there is almost certainly a beer type for everyone.
During my trip to Green Room we decided to try as many beers as possible and luckily they offered flights of beer. I tend to go all IPAs when I make my brewery visits because that is the type of beer I prefer and also the type of beer I’ve consumed the most of
Now let’s take a look at all of the beer we tried during our visit to Green Room Brewing:
Happy Haze
- Type: New England IPA
- ABV: 6.2%
I use Civil Society Brewing as my scale for hazies and this one was nice and smooth but doesn’t compare to some of the better new england IPAs out there.
High Seas
- Type: Tangerine IPA
- ABV: 5.4%
My first ever Tangerine IPA was from Stone Brewing and then one hit some sort of memory I had stored so it gets points for bringing me back to having that first sip of Stone Enjoy By: 10.31.16.
Java Fuel
- Type: Coffee IPA
- ABV: 6%
Coffee IPAs are a tough one because I don’t think I’ve had one that is great – this was fine but I wouldn’t order it again.
Pineapple Pablo
- Type: Pale Ale with Pineapple
- ABV: 4.6%
I’m partial to pineapple – I either love it or hate it – and this one was okay in my books but Mena loved it.
Tea Bagger
- Type: Sweet Tea Seltzer
- ABV: 5%
This may be shocking but this was by far the favorite of the day. Maybe it is because we had been to so many breweries prior and were looking for a change from all the IPAs but nonetheless, good stuff.
The brewery also has a cooler of cans to purchase to bring home with you. If you find one of their beers you like then don’t forget to grab a 4-pack on your way out.
I look forward to visiting Green Room Brewing again for the laid back beach vibes and good beer. If you are ever in Jacksonville, Florida and find yourself near the beach, head on over to Green Room to quench your thirst!
