99 Bottles Taproom & Bottle Shop is a unique little craft beer hangout in the heart of downtown Sarasota, Florida.
Keep in mind that this is located right next to a busy Whole Foods Market so parking may be scarce but we did not have any issues parking in the garage across the street. Upon entering we were greeted with walls of beer available to purchase in a quaint little taproom.
The taproom is pretty small but there is seating up front as well as along the beer wall if the bar is full. There are also covered tables out front which is almost like a makeshift beer garden in an urban setting. I personally don’t think you will have trouble finding a seat unless there is an event going on.
While we did not have a lot of time to spend drinking, we did manage to buy a few beer samples to review as well as some cans to bring back to Jackie’s house for later. Let’s take a look at the beer we had while visiting 99 Bottles Taproom & Bottle Shop in Sarasota, Florida.
99 Bottles Taproom & Bottle Shop Beer
I must confess that the selection of beer on tap was impressive. There is definitely a beer for everyone and if not then they do also offer wine. We all enjoy IPAs so that is mostly what we ordered and 99 Bottles is able to get some pretty sought-after breweries that I haven’t seen available in Florida. Now let’s get into the beers we got to try:
DDH Chromatic
- Brewery: Woven Water Brewing Company
- Type: Double Blurry IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
Woven Water Brewing Company out of Tampa, Florida is known for their crazy fusion smoothie beers but don’t sleep on their hazy (blurry) IPAs because they are delicious – we all really enjoyed this Double IPA.
Manticore (Zombie)
- Brewery: Mortalis Brewing Company
- Type: Sour Ale with Pineapple Chunks, Key Lime, Passion Fruit, Oranges, Cherries & Golden Rum Soaked Raisins
- ABV: 6%
I wanted something to switch it up from the other IPAs we bought and this sour from Mortalis was the perfect choice. I’m a sucker for key lime anything and this did not disappoint.
Take One Down
- Brewery: 3 Sons Brewing Co. (Collaboration with 99 Bottles)
- Type: Double New England IPA
- ABV: 7.2%
Before moving up to St. Augustine, from South Florida, 3 Sons Brewing Co. was one of our favorite breweries to visit. Little did I know that they made a collab beer with 99 Bottles and it was great – I ended up buying a 4-pack to bring back with us.
Wild Winds
- Brewery: Belleflower Brewing Company
- Type: Double New England IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
This Double IPA here from Belleflower Brewing Company was the surprise of the day for me. Belleflower has been killing it lately with their beers and I had not been able to try them yet. Everyone agreed that this was the best of the beers we bought taster pours of so we ended up buying a full pour as well.
The Machine
The Machine is how 99 Bottles lets customers try out rare bottles of beer without having to purchase the entire bottle. From the looks of it, they can offer up to four different bottle of beers on tap, whether it be a super rare stout or a wild farmhouse ale, The Machine allows for taster pours of bottles which would otherwise not be available in kegs on tap. This is a genius way to try stouts for me as all I want is 2-3 oz and I am done which The Machine allows 99 Bottles to do.
99 Bottles Locker Membership
99 Bottles has a secret beer club that offers members a monthly beer drop which is placed in their own personal locker in the back of the taproom, repurposed from the closed down Stardust Roller Rink in Sarasota, Florida. Below you will find out how to become a member, how much it will run you and all of the perks:
Cost: $600 (annually)
Lockers Available: 96
Perks:
- Monthly drop of rare and unique beer releases.
- 99 Bottles growler, t-shirt, hat and glassware.
- 10% Discount on all purchases made at 99 Bottles.
- Exclusive access to a special tap for members only.
- Access to limited seating and closed events.
- The Annual 99 Bottles Party (Staff + Members Only)
I really wish I lived closer to Sarasota and 99 Bottles because I would 1000% become a member – this is such a cool idea with the monthly locker drops. I may even end up seeing how to swing driving 3 hours every month just to be a part of this secret beer club.

We could not have been happier with 99 Bottles Taproom & Bottle Shop and enjoyed every single beer that we tried. Our favorite brewery from South Florida, 3 Sons Brewing Co., did a collaboration with them and we were able to grab a 4-pack to take home!
One thing we would like to mention is that their small beer pours are a little pricey – you are better off ordering full pours so make sure you come thirsty if you intend on trying a bunch.

“The team at 99 Bottles has looked at (and likely tasted) every beer on the wall and approved it for your drinking pleasure. Every beer, like every musician in a symphony, has a place in the symphony. Whether a classic brown ale, an old school West Coast IPA, or a turbid tornado from New England, the name of the game is 99 Bottles – and they’re all meant to be taken down and passed around!”
