Welcome to the beer and brewery review blog of Tim, ahoppynerd. The goal of this blog is to catalog all of the different craft beer I try and review all of the breweries I visit. If you are looking for honest reviews of craft beer and breweries, photos, videos, and top lists then you have come to the right spot!
Who Is Behind ahoppynerd?
Let’s take a moment to introduce ourselves:
Hi! My name is Tim, I’m 38 years old, and I was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. I have tried a lot of craft beer since I first went to Civil Society Brewing in Jupiter, Florida, which is where I developed a love for hazy IPAs. I am always looking for the next great beer/brewery so if you have any suggestions please me know!
Tim
How Are Our Reviews Calculated?
I will try at least 4 beers from a brewery before I write a review and for the 2026 reviews, we will post a score for every beer we tried from that specific brewery which will give an average score. If we visit the brewery in person then there will be a score for atmosphere, service, and food (if applicable) which will then be averaged out with all of the beer scores to give an overall rating.
My goal here is not to bash any brewery and I will be honest with all of my reviews, good or bad. Below you will find my rating (out of 10) and how I come up with the number given:
- Five (5) – A 5 means I do not recommend it at all.
- Six (6) – A 6 means that it is not my cup of tea but others may enjoy it.
- Seven (7) – A 7 is my baseline and the majority of beers I try will receive a 7 which means I enjoyed it and recommend it.
- Eight (8) – An 8 is going to be a beer that you must try as it is something better than what I enjoy on a regular basis.
- Nine (9) – A 9 is going to be a unique beer that is different from everything else I’ve had and must be tried.
- Ten (10) – A 10 is a unicorn and means the beer was perfect and nothing can compete with it – this rating will be hard to get.
